It all started six years ago when my photo-loving dad gave me one of his old cameras to use for a photography course in college. It wasn't long before I fell in love with the process and knew that this was what I wanted to do. A year after getting my first camera, I started Megan Forehand Photography. Five years later, I'm still doing what I love, taking my camera everywhere and capturing moments along the way.

I love seeing the twinkle in a groom's eye when he sees his bride for the first time and the happiness of a child, being part of the most special moments in someone's life, and creating memories that my clients can look back on for years to come. My goal is to tell your story through my lens.

David & Emily | Leeds, Alabama

Every time David and Emily step in front of my camera, it is like a dream! I was lucky enough to photograph these two getting hitched, and Emily and I have kept in touch ever since. She is also in the wedding biz… if you don’t know about her incredible talent as a hair stylist, you’ve been hiding under a rock! She is fabulous, and has contributed to helping make my brides look and feel beautiful.

One day we just decided “hey we should do a shoot, what days are you open?” Then this happened. I am so glad it did. Emily’s mom designed and provided the floral crown and bridal bouquet, I have to say talent runs in the family, and the dress Emily wore came from Burch & Hatfield in Tuscaloosa. Lee Kennedy, boyfriend to me and amateur florist to all (well for this occasion anyway), made the boutonniere, and Emily styled David. I’d say we made a great, little team. We shot at Bearden Farms in Leeds, an up and coming wedding venue, and I am ready to shoot a wedding there tomorrow! I loved it.

These two just make my job so easy!

Bill & Kristi | Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I don’t even know where to begin! First, it feels SO GOOD to be blogging again. It’s been so long since I have blogged a wedding. Pounding on the keyboard feels so good to my fingertips! Second, I don’t even know where to begin with this wedding… I loved it. I loved everything about it. I was so honored when Kristi asked me to be her photographer. We graduated high school together (almost 11 years ago – I still feel 18, ok?). She, the smartest in our class, and me, the nerdy art kid. If you told me in high school that I would be taking Kristi’s wedding photos, I might have laughed and told you that I was going to be a nurse. I’m so glad I changed career paths to do what I loved.

What a celebration this day was! I was so glad to be a part of it. Everyone was just so happy. We all know that weddings can be stressful, but this day was 100% stress free. Just lots of hugs, kisses, smiles, and laughs. It was truly a fairly tale.

Bill wanted to see Kristi for the first time as she walked down the aisle to marry him. I always love that moment – when the groom sees his bride for the first time… If you tried to erase the smile off of his face, you would fail, because, in that moment, that is one happy groom!

I always get a little sad after I have finished working with a bride. I love getting to know her, the groom, and their family, and sometimes I get attached. I can’t help myself (one of my best friends is a former bride)! The good thing is that this time I will be shooting Kristi’s sister’s wedding in September, and I don’t have to say goodbye to the family just yet, and that makes for one happy photographer!

Kacie & Hunter | Engagement Session

I’M FINALLY BLOGGING AGAIN, AND I’M SO EXCITED THAT I’M HAVING A HARD TIME NOT TYPING MY FIRST POST ENTIRELY IN CAPS LOCK… but, as hard as it is, I will refrain! I’m just so glad to be back and share my work with you all!

I’ve been working on this new website since October, slowly but surely building onto it. When I got the design for my new logo last week, the last piece of the puzzle was complete. I couldn’t be more happy with the rebranding of Megan Forehand Photography!

I took a break from blogging because I found myself wanting to blog everything… every shoot, every wedding, every favorite shot. So much goes into running a photography business that I just didn’t have time to blog EVERYTHING, and I finally accepted that that’s okay! I’m a photographer, not a blogger, and I’ve realized that sometimes you just need to let the photos speak for themselves… especially when the perfectionist in me sits in front of the computer for hours trying to draft the perfect blog post with no avail.

I knew before I shot Kacie and Hunter’s engagement pictures that their session would be the first post on my new blog. Kacie absolutely cracks me up, and I just knew with her kind of personality, she would make Hunter laugh too, and it would produce some perfect shots. Gosh, was I right or what?! I love how these turned out. We had a rare day of gorgeous Alabama weather, it could not have been more beautiful. I’m such a sucker for some killer light.

The session took place where Hunter proposed to Kacie… it doesn’t get anymore special than that! Except for the fact that it does because they brought along their dog, Boss, who was an accomplice in the proposal, and we got a few shots with him too! Kacie and Hunter are so much fun to photograph and be around. They are such genuine people, it’s easy to feel like you’ve known them forever. I just shot Kacie’s sister’s wedding this past weekend, and it is just so amazing to be welcomed into such an awesome family, not once but twice in a year. My job is just too good!
